Laws, Regulations, and/or Policies: Although Iran currently has no specific statute on Halal certification of pharmaceutical products. the country follows general Islamic guidelines in all its industries.
Halal Certifying Bodies: The Iranian National Standards Organization (INSO), is the only official authority granting the halal badge, companies are obliged to propose to the Guardian Council in order to ensure compliance with the standards of Halal in accordance with Islamic jurisprudence and to supervise its implementation by a pious mujtahid jurisprudent in halal matters, and after the approval of the Guardian Council jurists by decree of the head of the organization for four years. This sentence can be extended for later periods.

Requirements for Halal Pharmaceutical Certification
Iran is a member of The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC). All SMIIC members follow the Malaysian Standard of Halal Pharmaceuticals (MS2424) as the basic guideline for halal certification of pharmaceutical products.
