South Korea’s Pharma Sector Probes Halal Market with Indonesian Partners
Highlights: CKD OTTO Pharmaceuticals is a joint venture between Chong Kun Dang Pharm Corp. and PT Otto Pharmaceutical Industries, operating in Indonesia. In 2019, they established a halal-certified plant for producing anticancer drugs in Cikarang, West Java, and became the first oncology manufacturer in Indonesia to obtain halal certification with an excellent category in February 2019. Recently, in mid-November, they signed an export agreement worth $32 million with Saidal, Algeria’s largest state-run pharmaceutical company. As per the agreement, CKD OTTO will export anticancer injections produced at its Indonesian plant to Algeria by 2026.
